The Spring 2011 Equinox brought the full moon’s biggest and brightest piece of lunar eye candy in 18 years. This Supermoon rose to the closest point to the earth as a bunch of Aspenites decided to celebrate in pure Aspen athletic style with a moonlight hike (skinning with skis) up Tiehack mountain. We started at sundown with a celebration on top in a very “cool” warming hut. While filled with wine and cheese, it wasn’t easy skiing down in the dark while the moon was cloud covered… even with our headlamps. Another gorgeous life experience in the mountains of Colorado!
Beautiful celebration of Spring, great picture of the moon!
