On The Road Again

Colorado backroads are absolutely gorgeous in the summertime with the wildflowers in full bloom from middle of July to early August. We caught that right.    The weather is the only thing you can’t control and we certainly found that out quick.   But as they say….if you don’t like the weather in the mountains…wait a minute.  The good news is there is no such thing as weather if you have the right gear.  As in life, you must have the right gear and that starts with the right attitude.  Sometimes you even need to be able to reschuffle the deck. We moto’ed 280 miles from Aspen to Telluride stopping to stretch and enjoy the scenery especially in Blackrock Canyon. We arrived in Telluride in time to enjoy a rest and a delicious dinner at the Chop House.  It was a long and a little wet way to go for dinner!  But worth it as it’s about the journey not the destination…especially when you are listening to a good book on tape (Cutting for stone by Abraham Verghese).   The next morning we took a locals hike up Jud Weibi before hopping in the saddle again for our journey back to Aspen over Independence Pass…only the highest point on the Continental Divide.  Absolutely Spectacular!
